Uber Is Tightening Comfort, Exec and Lux Vehicle Rules from 1st August 2026

Uber is updating the vehicle eligibility requirements for Comfort, Exec and Lux across the UK from 1 August 2026. The changes only apply to vehicles added to the platform after this date.

If you already drive in one of these categories, there is no immediate change. Uber says it will contact affected drivers directly by email, so it is worth checking that the email linked to your Uber account is up to date.

For Comfort, vehicles must be no more than six years old in London, Manchester and Birmingham, or eight years old elsewhere in the UK.

Exec is becoming more selective. Vehicles must be Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Jaguar or Lexus models, meet Uber’s age limits and be approved saloon models.

For Lux in London, vehicles must also meet the updated requirements, while drivers need at least 1,000 completed trips and a 4.9 rating to stay eligible.

If you are planning to change your PCO vehicle this year, check Uber’s updated vehicle list before signing a lease or buying a car. Choosing the wrong vehicle could mean missing out on premium trip requests.
